JRM,

What agency was this, did they really teach deco diving, or just "how to read the tables in case of emergency". Navy tables have always had deco stop information, NAUI tables have emergency decompression stop info and NAUI teaches how to use that informationn if you blow your dive plan and need it. But that's a far cry from teaching decompression diving.

IMHO Rodales advocacy of recreational divers doing deco dives (if that's what they said, I don't read RSD) is as irresponsible as the recxent solo dive article.

The Navy spends years and big bucks to train deco divers, and they are willing to wash an unqualified candidate out of their training in a flash. Until agencies are willing to go that far, they tread thin ice training divers to do deco dives.
