Maybe it occurs more during the exit than during the entry, but when I pass through the surf zone with significant wave action, there is always sand stirred up by the surge--sand that is everywhere and gets everywhere. When I used to exit the water with my reg out of my mouth, I ended up with sand inside. Now that I keep it in my mouth, there is none. My back up stays clean too because I am currently holding it with a ball on my chest (not open under my chin).

Once I convert to a chin placement and pass through the sandy zone, there will be sand getting in again.

I guess I'll just pop a ball on the back up during surf transit.

PS: Maybe we beach dive under different ocean condititons or even in different oceans?
