Correct but it is in your working portion, at depth, that you will be overweight in a steel, its a trade off. Its a different thing to need to swim get to the top from 100' as opposed to swiming from 15'. Your wet suit looses more then just a few pounds of lift at depth, couple that fact with the steel tank is about 6 pounds heavy and you got yourself one hell of a swim to the top. Granted, and this is the part most dont mention, an alum will only get you a few pounds better off at depth, but why not take that extra few in case you need it?
