Details aside, as Mike said, Nitrox to 160 is the old way of teaching. Based on lipid solubility-the generally accepted guideline of a gas's narcotic properties-oxygen is worse (more narcotic) than nitrogen. Hence, you're as or more narc'd on EANx 25 as you are on air. If the instructor is DM'ing topside while his "class" is at 160 fsw on a narcotic mix, why would you want to be near this situation?
