It is unforgiving when it costs the entire boat the last dive of day because he can't get back to the boat and we need to pull the anchor, do a roll call and then figure out whether we do a body search or drive around and look for him.. Do we call the Coast Guard etc. etc...
Until you have been in that stressfull situation you shouldn't make light of it...
This has happened more than a few times with Chris..
I'm also told it has happened on other boats that I haven't personally been on or have personally been the DM on.. Chris and Tim are good friends and you should have seen the look on Tim's face when 45 minutes after everyone else was back on the boat and we saw no Chris, no bubbles, nothing....
As it turns out he got swept around the point and couldn't get back to the boat... You center on the fact that all's well that end's well.. You forget that for 45 minutes we thought he was dead, we were organizing a body search, we were deciding whether to get the Coast Guard involved and then everyone on the boat lost a dive...
If that's OK with you then so be it.. In my book that just rude...
