Email addresses are not a good control on sock puppets because they, like spamers, can use throwaway email accounts.
Josh suggested that the IP address of all who post be revealed in the posts.
I could the IP address, the resolved IP, and the browser being used at the top of each post.
Doing this reveals the address of the computer you are posting from.
Would you , as a BBS user, be willing to trade this loss of privacy for control of the Sock Puppets?
IP address is the unique Internet address of the computer you are using.
The resolved IP can reveal your company or ISP, and sometimes the city you are posting from.
You browser ID can reveal what browser and type of computer you are using.
