San Clemente Island is closed 300 yards from shore until further notice.
This closes all divable areas.

SCI Security Notice

As you are undoubtedly aware, San Clemente Island (SCI) is currently operating
under an increased level of security due to the tragic terrorist attacks on
September 11, 2001. As a result, SCI Security personnel are closely monitoring
the waters surrounding SCI for any potential threats to the security of the Island
and the safety of the military personnel who work there. At the present time,
commercial fishermen and vessels are permitted to enter and utilize SCI waters,
with the exception of any previously established restricted areas. However, it is
important that any vessels that enter the waters surrounding SCI fully cooperate
with SCI Security water patrols, act in a safe and prudent manner, and monitor
Ch. 16 at all times.

In the event of a heightened security status, the Commanding Officer, Naval Base
Coronado has the authority to deem that all areas surrounding SCI for a minimum
distance of 300 yards beyond the low water mark are restricted areas and
prohibit any vessels from operating in them. Please reference the link below for
additional guidance. Accordingly, it is important to review this web site on an
ongoing basis for any changes in the security status and active restricted areas of
SCI.

Executive Order 6897
