It depends on the thickness and material.
I normally dive with a 6.5 mm three piece.
In the past, I have needed a 24 lb belt when they are brand new, which drops to 16 lbs. over the life of the suit.
Since I don't dive with a BC proper weighting is critical, thus I am very sensitive to when my weighting needs to be changed.
For my latest suit is testing some new material.
I started with 16 lbs. on my weight when it was new, and after 160 dives I am down to 12 lb.
This material is the same thickness as previous suits, but seems to be denser.
It has also held up much better to my abuse from bug hunting.
Thus, there is no one answer to your question.
