One of my sons, now 14, and I got NAUI certified in late 2000 in Lake Mead, Nevada. Our only "real" dive after certification was a Summer 2001 guided dive at the Avalon, CA dive park. THat went down to about 70 feet and went very well. My son is coming to visit me from Colorado, and sometime during July, we would like to make 1-2 dives off the Southern CA cost again. Can someone suggest a good alternative to the high expenses of going out to Catalina again? I'm talking about something fun, of course, but also economical and safe for our relative inexperience. Obviously, it should be in a group and/or with a guide. Any suggestions??
