Wayne, I think that “not” doing ESA's in the open water makes the class safer. And I think that this accident shows why. Doing ESA in the OW puts your students at risk . Why do it? Does the skill make a better diver(does learning take place)? Will the student remember how to do an ESA, 6 months from now, a year from now, five years from now, 5 mins. from now? This is the most dangerous skill that we do. And it serves almost no purposes.
