In the Orange County Register May 9. 2003 Local Section has a good article about toxic blooms containing domoic acid which is effected aquatic mammals from eating fish containing domoic acid. It also states a quarantine on mussels and a ban on harvest went into effect May 1 -Oct. 31 because of domoic acid levels.

I'm sure you're all aware what contributes to algae blooms by now?
