There are many choices for the Advanced diver, Los Angeles (Malibu, Palos Verde Pennisula, Redondo Beach, Laguna Beach and points between), San Diego, the islands and Monterey.
The challenge is that for the non-certified divers, they will not be diving unless you shore dive. The dive boats all check your qualification card. No card, no dive unless you are with a certified instructor who is conducting a class. You may find an introduction to scuba thing, but I don't know where you would do that. Good luck.
