After cutting short a deco stop last Summer (long story, but never take Diver City in Florida) I discovered that my trusty, beloved Suunto Cobra locked out for 48 hours...and stayed locked until it was actually totally out of the water for 48 hours. This was the first day of a one week trip (fortunately all other dives were shallow water).
Thank God I always do tables as back-up; stayed out of the water for 24 hours as a precaution, watched for DCS during that time (none) then kept diving, but used tables. The Suunto still did guage mode. Nothing like the Navy Tables!
Plus when beach diving - tables make more sense - less clutter pl;us you're typically shallow anyway.
