ok, now that I've dove the point dume pinnacles 4 times, I'm wondering if anyone has any strong current stories to share. I'll start with my own:
3 out of 4 times, it's taken me 20 minutes to swim to the pinnacles. But one time, it only took 5 minutes. The current was so strong we couldn't make any headway back. Luckily, it was a minus tide. We tried to make it into the cove next to the cliff, but couldn't make it. We barely made it into a small 8-ft cove next to the larger cove. A 2-minute climb over mussel-covered rocks brought us into the larger cove, and then an easy walk (due to the minus tide) brought us back to the parking lot.
Has anyone else ever got caught in a strong current? What happened?
