"Federal prosecutors promised on Tuesday to launch an investigation into the shooting deaths of 28 sea lions on a beach near Ensenada, Baja California, in recent weeks. The sea lions were shot to death between April and May. Suspicion has focused on hunters, vandals or possibly local fishermen, who may see the sea lions as competitors for fish stocks."
