Just a few points:

1. The role of a DM on a boat is to help out with the divers and assist in rescuing, if needed. Knowing that, I personally would not tell my would-be recsuer to fu*** off.

2. Many "DMs" on boats, worldwide, are instructors. So that argument of your's definitely falls short.

3. Sounds like you would make a good DM. So then why don't you work on a boat? Then maybe I can learn from such a role model as yourself.

I have had very good experiences with DMs on my trips in CA. Obviously you haven't, but don't come to hasty generalizations saying that they are all on a power trip and that they "cram it down in our face."
