"This accounts for the increased narcosis experienced when diving in cold water."

Hi Bill;

It's been a long time.

Is that an educated guess or have you seen something empirical on this? It sounds a lot like an educated guess. Agreed solubility is temperature related, but I ask that because 1) I haven't seen anything empirical on this, and 2) even if empirical testing showed increased impairment in cold water, there could be other mechanisms at work (e. g. perfusion effects) or other physical reactions to cold. One pretty easy way to validate the idea that colder gas is more narcotic all other things equal would be to use a highly narcotic gas to test potency at the surface in a controlled temperature environment and simply vary the temperature of the inspired gas. Can you point me to a particular study on this?

Thanks,
