Fish ID help |

No luck on two other bulletin boards so far, so I'm cross-posting yet again in hopes of stumbling on an answer. :) Spotted this fish in about 20fsw off Santa Cruz island a few days ago. Solitary, not terribly shy, and that's a hook in his mouth (not a barbell). He was scratching himself on rocks pretty frequently. So far everyone's best guess seems to be "something in the perch or chub family, with some horrible disease and/or mutation." Any other ideas?
