And I have yet see anyone locally use a rebreather for its intended purpose. Everyone seems to do the same dive times ( actually often less) the same depths, and the same deco. Its completely illogical to me that one would choose to decrease their safety on dives that they can easily do with simple open circuit scuba.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it would appear that most of these rebreather divers are typicallly established middle aged teckno freaks with a moderately filled billfold who possess very few diving skills. I can't imagine why any boat would allow a rebreather on board..
