As I have said often I use the following:

Nitrox from 0' - 100'

Hyperoxic or normoxic trimix from 100' - 200'

Trimix from 200' and deeper..

I never use a gas that will render a END of 100' or greater so it's pretty easy to balance the gas..

The only time I plan on using Helium shallower than 100' is when I'm on deco. Doing deco at these depths I use a Heliox 50/50 from 70' to 20' and then use pure 02 at 20'..

Depending on our dive we may start using a 35% at 120' or a 19/35...

But you get the idea...

While some people I have dove with use He in all their dives I frankly believe that dives in the 100' and shallower range don't need He and could just as easily be done on Nitrox...

But with respect to Karl, heading a program that teaches deep air to 165' and then suggesting that He isn't the way to go is just plain stupid and wrong..

He knows full well how I feel about this subject and he and I have agreed to disagree, although I did warn him that if I caught him writing something stupid I would call him on it ;-)
