So how was your cave diving vacation? How deep into the cave(s) was your penetration, and what was the vertical underwater depth also? Obviously you used the Rule of 1/3s.

I have gained an appreciation for the Rule of 1/3s by studying the GUE/DIR posts here. Anytime in my sportdiving that I have had to deal with overheads, such as kelp canopies, I have reserved more air for it. We have several beaches here in NorCal that get choked with kelp in the summer. I have found that the Rule of 1/3s helps me to relax as I negotiate these kelp canopies, although I havent heard anyone up here mentioning that in the same context.

I have spent my vacation abalone freediving. I have never been in an underwater cave in my life, and I daresay I never will be. GUE/DIR get their full test in underwater caves, absolutely.

Hope things are well with all of you SoCals.
