My gear, which coincidentally coincides with the above, is:

ScubaPro Jet fins (not the split fins)
ScubaPro Mark 20 & S600 regs
Pressed Steel tanks
Suunto dive computer

I have learned to set the available personal features to ++ for the Suunto. That computer is very generous on deep air dives (over 100') with its allowable bottom times, and it gives you continuous credit for deco/offgassing if you ascent slowly.

I have found that my body can still get Type I DCS from following the Suunto commands. I originally thought that a physically fit diver, age 47, would not need the ++ setting for the personal features. I now believe everyone should set the ++ just to be safe with the Suunto.

I have always feared, perhaps irrationally, that a tank manifold is just one more thing that can go wrong, especially if you get bounced around, like in heavy surge, or in rough surf on a beach exit. Thats why I personally prefer 2 regs hooked directly to the tanks, rather than to a manifold. You need an extra SPG that way, compared to the manifold, but an SPG costs less than a manifold anyway.
