Great question.
Because in the real world, specialization of function is
the rule. This is true in both biological and engineering
systems. You try to shoehorn DIR procedures into all cases
and it looks like a very funny fit. It also accounts for
the huge discrepencies of detail that arise when you
describe some DIR precepts.
Just think about your comment about the demo above. You
have to explain that since GI etc. will be there, no it
will still be rec, not cave/wreck. Funny, you have to
clarify that point. Obviously most people think of
cave/wreck when they think of DIR.... As they
should.

As for my little essay on diving procedures, I think
you're going to see what I'm playing with sooner than
you want. Still, I like ideas to stew a bit until
cooked properly. I'm not much into sound bites and
I'm certainly not going to hurry on your account.
