I am both a Lic. Captain and a SCUBA instructor. That said I feel it is a judgement call on the part of the Captain and DM. I would not have a DM aboard likre the one you discribed although I was not there and other things may have been going on.The ultiment say so is with the Captain. Log books are a good "start." I would not let a diver with only a few dives under his belt dive say the Farnswoth. but would have no problem on the front side. I would like to see several night dives in order to do night dives off my boat unless they were with a quilifid DM. I hope you get the just of what I am trying to say. (sorry for the spelling). The diferent Cert people have diferent certs for a reason. Maybe we should use then to weed out the potional problems.
