Diver death on saturday?

There are several comments floating around the internet about a diver death in LA on Saturday - apparently the columnist Scott Shuger (who wrote the elegant response to the "scuba terrorist warnings") died in a diving accident. If it's true it is a sad intellectual loss for our sport.
