Hi Kaz...I had a shocking experience with a torpedo ray in 1990 at San Nicholas Island. I came upon it and poked it with the end of my speargun to spook it out of my way. Well... it didn't spook. It turned around and came right at me. I held it off with my right arm and I felt a hell of a shock all the way up the arm even with a glove and wet suit on! I went into rapid back-pedling and got away as fast as I could.Forunately he din't chase me. Since then I give them a wide berth. They earned my respect that day....Mel
