Advice wanted for Maine-iacs first dive visit to Catalina Is.

Hi, everyone! My husband and I will be visiting my daughter in CA at the beginning of Sept and want to do some diving. From our research, Catalina Is. seems to be a prime dive locale.
We completed our AOW in March and only have about 20 dives logged so we are still new to the sport.

Questions: Will a 5mm suit be adequate for early Sept.?
Can you recommend a dive company? and why them?
If you had to choose 2 dive locations on the island, what would you recommend to us?
