I would put my money on a dolphin/porpoise. This is common behavior for them. Besides the color, I see a hint of the dolphin smile.
I never heard of a thresher shark hitting the surf/beach. Whites and tigers yeah. I thought thresher sharks went after schooling fish not surf.
Dolphins are mammals and have a interest in having fun. Sharks aren't and have a one track mind and it is not having fun.
