Having retreived a few anchors:

Diving to free it is a last resort.

Check the anchor at the beginning and end of the
regular dive, so it doesn't get stuck.

Anchor in sand whenever possible. Move the anchor
to sand if possible at the beginning of the dive.

If you gotta dive on it, you gotta have enough
gas. Send it up on a lift bag, get out from
under the lift bag fast, and do a nice slow ascent
with all safety stops while your buddy retreives
the anchor on the boat. Above all, be safe.

If you don't have enough gas, buoy the anchor line
and come back later.
