Nikonos Battery Discharging Questtion

I have a Nikonos SB 104 strobe that I find I am using a lot. It runs off a unit specific nicad battery pack

It doesn't last through the advertised three rolls of film in cold water. I am recharging it before it runs out of juice in the middle of a dive. Because I am recharging it before it is empty I assume I am shortening its "memory". Does anyone know of a battery discharger that will fully drain the battery before I recharge it?
