I've never had my primary hose come "undone" unless I made it happen.

Though I try to avoid beach dives at all costs, for that matter diving in California, in the few hundred I've done I've never had a problem.

Get rid of the useless snorkel attached to your mask (if it is) and there will be no problems with the hose getting "stuck" on anything.
