I don't know what the big deal is going to Catalina and back in a small boat on a flat day.
You should see the kind of seas we go out in once in a while here.
Once I went all the way down to Pt. Reyes from Bodega. That's 25 miles one way. We encountered 12 foot seas and wirling water right at the point. It spun me around 360 and I had to gas it full throttle while fighting the wheel to get out of it. Good thing I have a flat bottom dory with a lot of freeboard or else it could've gotten ugly. Then I had to head north after diving and had to pound my way against oncoming seas and wind.

I'm sure Brad could chime in about his adventures at sea, solo among other things.

Just ask Jon and seahunt about all the good times we've had off my boat. And yes I leave my boat unattended all the time. I just check the anchor everytime at the beginning of the dive.

Have fun
