I have always thought the Lobsters here in SoCal were successful breeders, which is why we started to release large males. We see plenty of breeding activity from egg bearing females to the putty on the underside of bugs ready to breed, so is there any known stats on how the So Cal Lobster population replenishes, the only thing I could find was that the majority of the So Cal population comes from Northern Baja, any biologists out there.
