I just wanted to step in here in reference to a comment I just read from seahunt..."FAG is really screwed up...... They should all get a new job, but
when I told one of them that they would have no job when the otters got here, the reply was that they would just go inland."
I've read this kind of comment from seahunt's website before as well as heard it from other rec divers who like to hunt. I just don't get it. What is it with you guys and otters? If abalone and sea urchin populations collapse in response to the comeback of the California sea otter, doesn't this say a heck of a lot more about human over-fishing than it does about a species trying to pull back from the brink of extinction? The sea otter and abalone co-existed in California waters for millions of years before the arrival of Europeans and large scale commercial fishing. Frankly, we all need a little perspective here. Sea otters hunt to live. Divers hunt for bragging rights. 'Nuff said.
