MHK,
Yes, the discussions and new definitions thrown in were turbulent. And I left with the impression that you understood that, for the sake of classifying dives as solo dives or not, it makes a difference if a diver intently enters alone vs. a diver that later separates unintentionally from his buddy.

Not a difference to him being alone at the moment of whatever hitting a fan, but a difference in saying that some were solo dives or not.

I'm staying away from this discussion from now on because I feel I will turn around to defend solo diving if I get more involved with debating whether a dive was a solo dive or not. I feel that too much (of anything) eventually has an adverse effect, and this level has been reached as far as I'm concerned.

I would prefer to see no more fatalities announced, but if they have to happen, it may be a good idea to concentrate on the fact and not pound on the solo drum too much.
