Hi Mike,
I totally agree with what you say. Working with
10 year olds, we are walking on the edge. Very
few will qualify. However, we can not discriminate
without giving them the chance to try. Only then
we will be able to evaluate them. It might
involve a great disappointment for the majority,
but safety comes first. The ones that make it,
are worth the time invested, they most likely will
dive for life.
I am not on the legal side of this, nor am I
knowledgeable about it. I am not sure what are the
legal issues involved.
And I understand, that Padi did this not only for
the pure love of diving.
But I know how I felt, when I saw this little
girl beam as I handed her the certification.
I know, I have created a future safe and
conscientious diver.
This was also the best gift I could have been
given for my birthday as well.
