The Aquarius Dive shops in Monterey used to be even more ridiculous. $4 for air to 3000, $5 to 32 or so, $6 to 3500. However, I'd never get a true fill better than 3200 for the extra 2 bucks, so I started asking for the $4 fill.

Actually no, I started going to shops that didn't rip me off, and could actually deliver a proper fill in the first place.

When the owners acquired the shop, I brought this up and they: 1) acknowledged that their compressors had a hard time getting all the way to 3500, and 2) removed the BS diffential pricing. If I don't mind getting a bit less than the full 100, I will now go there again. One shop does have good parking availability. (then again, so does Manta Ray)

Chris - how many shops are we talking about here?
And how common is HP use in LA, given that most people dive off boats?
