Arno, if you want to argue that diving without a BC - at ANY level of certificiation or alleged skill - is safer than diving with a BC, you go right ahead, but my 22 years of teaching people how to dive and also supervising divers leads me to believe that diving without a BC is just plain stupid.
(No disrespect meant to the backpack-only divers who frequent this BBS but I think the idea of diving without a BC is without intellectual merit.)
Legal issues have nothing to do with it. Safety does. End of discussion (as far as I'm concerned - you feel free to have a field day with it).
