Sea Otters feed on clam, sea urchins, abalone, crabs, mussels, starfish and fish. They need to eat enormous amounts every day in order to stay warm. Introduction of Sea Otters into the SoCal marine ecosystem seems very counter productive to recovery so I guess I'm leaning in your direction on this one.

Is there enough shell-fish for an otter family to eat for two weeks on the front side of Catalina Island? They are cute and fun to admire but really, does the ecosystem need them?
