I shut my freezer door, as I try to remember to do, and noticed that bag of abalone trimmings I saved. It made me think. If I brought that with me to Van Damme and just poured it out in a good spot while diving, I might attract a really big fish.... Anyone know if chumming like that (or any other way) is legal when spearing? ... ie. If I try it, should I admit it or not in my report?
... Ya know, I have this big ol slip tip I bought for my pole spear years back at SLO CUrrents. I've never tried it yet. I have shot some big stuff with my pole spear with the paralyzer (just hit really hard and then pin em), but I haven't tried this tip yet. It might be fun to try it out if I know I'm likely to see a big fish like I did last time at Colby Reef. Maybe I'll even see one of Chris' God Cods, though I never did catch what specie that was.
Enjoy, seahunt
