In my experience, the boats that hassle you about longer dives are (a) boats with students or other beginning divers, and (b) bug trips. Being used to hour-plus boat dives, I was agog when I went on my first trip with a bug-oriented group and saw everyone racing to jump in for a half hour at a time before tearing to the next site (surface interval? what's a surface interval?). But I've had many leisurely long dives on non-hunting-oriented trips on boats like the Sundiver.
