Labor Day tech dive |
Posted by anon on September 12, 2006 at 09:40:15: A group of friends and I went on a tech dive trip to Blue Fish Cove at Pt Lobos on Labor Day. Depth was 180 ft. Total dive time was about 49 minutes per dive (slightly longer deco on the second). Time at MOD was 20 mins per dive. Water temp was 52F. Vis was 15 ft at the surface and 30+ feet at max depth. Bottom mix was TMX 20/40 and deco gasses were EAN 50 and 100% O2. The views on the underwater pinnacle were stunning, with all of the usual array of anemonies, tunicates, gorgonians, and such covering the pristine rocky reef. We saw canary rock fish, vermillions, and calicos as well. At 180 ft we were hovering at a wall formed by the pinnacle with the bottom at least another 30 feet below us, or so it appeared. Lobos is such a beautiful place, the gem of northern California diving. Here is the dive plan: DIVE PLAN #1 Dec to 180ft (3) on Trimix 20.0/40.0, 50ft/min descent. Off gassing starts at 129ft OTU's this dive: 67 104.9 cu ft Trimix 20.0/40.0 DIVE PLAN #2 Dec to 180ft (3) on Trimix 20.0/40.0, 50ft/min descent. Off gassing starts at 129ft OTU's this dive: 74 104.9 cu ft Trimix 20.0/40.0 DIVE PLAN COMPLETE |
