There's a radio operator at USCG San Francisco
that's VERY female.

A couple of years ago Admiral Linda and I
were relaxing between dives in Carmel Bay
when there are repeated calls on 16: "200 ton cargo
vessel at location xxx (about 40 miles out),
this is U S Navy Aircraft Carrier conducting
flight operations. You are 18 miles on our
bow." 18 drops to 15 to 10, and finally
at about 8 miles the cargo ship responds
(I get the impression a couple of low F/A-18
passes woke them up), and gets a good chewing
out from the Navy about flight ops being
stand-on over most everything. The foreign
voice on the cargo tub gives the Navy flack
for a while, but eventually gets out the way."
(100,000 tons vs 200 tons, do the math).

Then: "US Navy Aircraft Carrier, this is
Coast Guard Group San Francisco. Channel 16
is for calling and distress only. Group
San Francisco Out.". I can see just
EVERYBODY on duty at Group SF in the radio
room waiting to let the Navy have it. And,
yes, it was the female radio operator at
Group SF.
