Interestingly, this all started with bowling. Pat used to be a professional bowler but then he had an epiphany when he realized he was hurting the bowling pins. And then he learned they had wood in them and someone had to cut down a tree and that really gave him angst. The final straw was when he found out that plastics were used in the manufacture of the balls, leather was in the shoes and paints with lead were on the pins. Pat now lives naked in a cave and lives on nothing but water that he has carefully removed all the living microbes from. We take him out diving so he can “get out”, get out of his cave that is. That is why we call him Swami Pat and his favorite saying is “another step toward total enlightenment.”

Your view of the world is extremely anthropocentric and out of touch with physical and biological reality.

Since when did any of this earth, biologic or otherwise “belong” to you or “each and every one of us”? This is nothing but an extension of the old notion that give rise to the idea humans can take everything as they “own it” to now humans are to protect everything as they “own it” (or have designated themselves as the steward of all biologic processes). This is nonsense. It fact it is amusing as it is a nothing but extension of the older human-centric “take it all” view.

Four billion years of complex biology has given rise to what we see and are today. It will continue and your assigning your values of “good” and “bad” to aspects of it is entirely anthropocentric and naďve. Biologic and physical process, both microscopic and macroscopic will continue unabated.

If creatures in the water give your passion value, what ever your passion is, I’m happy for you but that is personnel to you and meaningless to the biologic (as well as geologic, astronomic, etc) processes that will shape the future.
