Let me congratulate you on that haul. I know what fun you guys had, and that was a really special moment. It was a nice haul of big bugs, and you are certainly within your rights to take such a haul. But let me suggest to you that next time you let the big ones go. They are better breeding stock and have few predators relative to their smaller cousins. Practice catch and release on the big ones. Photos are really cool and last longer than the meal you get from the big ones, and they can keep on breeding. Remember the legal bug is about 5-7 years old. Those 8 lbs bugs are probably 10-15 years with that 14 lb bug running about 25 years old.

BTW, If you ask me and this is just an opinion. I think the DFG might be thinking the lobster fishery is in a bit of trouble. The reason I think this is because the only other fisheries in CA that have cards are troubled fisheries. Let see, Steelhead, Salmon, Abalone, and Sturgeon, My guess is that we will probably have a slot limit and reduce the number of daily take in the near future. Something to think about.

Again Congratulations on your catch.
