world-wide."

frank, not to "nitpick", as i've been accused
of doing, but can one honestly make this claim
that there were fewer injuries/deaths 'back then'
relative to now??!!

i thought that such numbers weren't really recorded,
is there a statistical source or record that existed
back then?

i've wondered myself if the injury/mortality
rate is higher now than then, but w/o any hard
data, it's only guesswork and i would like to
THINK that not only the gear, but even the
training (no matter how watered down it is today)
is better now than back then--there is more info
re:dive theory today than there was back then
and this theory does eventually make its way
to today's diver. in other words, there is more
diving info and it is readily available
today than 'back then'.

...just curious...
