From the March 2000 issue of Rodale's SCUBA DIVING, page 26:
Scuba Achievement Test - MULTI-DAY REPETITIVE DIVING - Get your fill of diving, and your money's worth, without getting BENT.
5. In situations where 2 to 5 dives per
day are contemplated, what can a
diver do to lessen or eliminate his
decompression obligation?
a. keep bottom times less
than 30 minutes
b. wear a dry suit
c. use nitrox
d. reduce safety stops to reduce
in-water time
ANSWER: 5.c) use nitrox. Nitrox, with its higher oxygen
content, will dramatically extend no-decompression
bottom times, reduce surface intervals and lesson
any deco requirements. When used with a nitrox
programmable computer, the diver will gain a
significant advantage over his air-diving or
table-diving brethren.
Ken, do you get that lonely, frustrated feeling that the sport diving parade is passing you by?
