e-shark, the flaw in PADI S/P is that there are no time standards for the Pool and lecture session. The only time stardard they have is the OW sessions which is 20 min. per dive.
There are instructors and stores that promote programs, where the student takes a CD or video home, comes back and takes the written test, does a couple of hours in the pool, and then starts there OW training (All done in a weekend). The question is, well this diver be self-reliant after a program like this(I don't think so, do you?)?
Diving is a sport that takes time to learn. Doing programs like this, is short changing the student.
To be frank with you I don't see how PADI and the instructors that run this type of program can sleep at night.
