I can think of nothing constructive to add EXCEPT for the NITROX thing. I used to feel exactly the same about nitrox, but I have changed.
I use Nitrox to reduce my nitrogen, not to increase my NDLs. I do not dive longer, I just have greater margin. My computer is AIR and I do not violate it, and I never come up in the "yellow".
At 45 I want to make sure that I am still diving and enjoying life when I hit Frank Farmer's age. I have a few things going against me such as being a bit rotund (non-hydrodynamically challenged). So I like being further away from saturated. I also notice the post-dive feel-good aspects.
