Hey Michael,
I feel I should apologize for the comment from Mr. Walker, who I guess
we must consider a member of this board community, no matter how weird
or offensive he may get at times.
As for San Diego, like most places on the coast, there are opportunities
in the local diving industry, but they are not what you would call get
rich quick schemes. While there is much diving in the area, the whole
issue is dominated by the fact that the water is cool enough that while
there are lots of local divers, there is not much tourist diving. That
has changed some with the sinking of the Yukon. There is a bit more
diving just north in LA, where the access to the Channel Islands
supports more dive industry.
Be aware, west coast cost of living is high.
There is a great deal of other industry and opportunity in San Diego,
that might be an assist to someone trying to get settled.
Send me an email with your address and I could send you the Diving
pages from the local phone book.
Oh, look at www.diver.net/seahunt for some info on CA diving. Towards
the bottom of the list are some essays about SD diving on local
charter boats.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
